Studsvik Polymer AB is now Bodycote Polymer AB
We celebrate the new Millennium with a new owner and a new name, Bodycote Polymer! But all other things will remain the same! Our staff and laboratory will continue to operate from the Studsvik site in Sweden.

Since January 1, 2000, we are owned 100% by Bodycote Materials Testing Group Ltd.

The Group is the worlds leading materials testing organisation currently operating 32 laboratories in Europe, the Middle East and North America. The parent company Bodycote International plc, which is listed on the UK stock market, is a global sub-contract service organisation with over 190 facilities providing engineering services to a wide range of industry. The turnover of Bodycote is 570 million USD (360 million GBP).

Why is Studsvik selling Studsvik Polymer?

Carsten Olsson, CEO of Studsvik AB:

"Studsvik AB has during the last years expanded considerably within the nuclear technology markets. We have been very successful and are now preparing to go on the stock exchange next year. The activity of Studsvik Polymer is outside the nuclear market which means that very few synergies have been obtained with Studsvik AB. Studsvik Polymer has achieved very good results with an annual growth of more than 20% per year during the last five years. In order to ensure a continued expansion we have, in close collaboration with the management team of Studsvik Polymer, discussed the possibility to find a new owner. We have been looking for a new owner that could give the company the necessary support to develop and expand the business. We are today very happy to announce that we have found a "perfect" new owner, Bodycote Material Testing Group Ltd. Both myself and the management team of former Studsvik Polymer are convinced that the new owner will ensure continued success for the new company. Why is Bodycote buying Studsvik Polymer?

For that reason we have earlier this year made an acquisition of Broutman Inc in Chicago, USA. We are now very proud to have Bodycote Polymer as a new member of the family. Bodycote hope to expand and develop the range of services on offer at Bodycote Polymer and to anticipate synergies between Bodycote Polymer and Bodycote Broutman. Both laboratories have a world-wide reputation for providing expertise and laboratory services in the polymer technology area."

What will the formation of the new Bodycote Polymer mean to you?

In the short term no dramatic changes will occur! We will of course continue to work in the same way that has been so successful. That means: high technical quality, punctual deliveries and quick administrative responses.

In the long term the new company will offer you a lot of new benefits. We will now have the resources to grow faster in both personnel and experimental equipments. Our future investments into more advanced testing equipment will give us the tools to perform more realistic and reliable lifetime estimations. On standardised testing we will also be even more cost efficient, which in extension means more test data to a lower price for you! Tests that we normally do not perform at Studsvik can now be carried out at other Bodycote laboratories. This will be an advantage for our clients not only for testing of polymers but also if our clients like to perform tests on other materials or components.

We are of course very happy that we have found a new owner that will support and develop us in the future. But the people to thank are all our clients. They have made it possible for us to expand and develop so successfully during the last years! We can assure you that we will try even harder to meet your demands and to make sure that you get your lifetime products with the right quality, at the right time and to the right price!
